Japanese antique oil pot 1800s

This pot is a cosmetic tool used mainly in the Edo period,and it's a container for storing hair oil. Women in the Edo period wore their hair up in a style 24 hours a day.

The inscription on the ukiyo-e print reads, "Hair and makeup are the first refinement for a woman. Depending on your hair and makeup, you may be seen as either a graceful woman or a vulgar woman."
They must have sought perfect beauty in their tools as well.

You can use it as a single flower vase
or as a hair oil container.
