This sake cup has beautiful deep green and earth tones that evoke the great nature, and a hand-carved grass pattern is nice.
It feels wonderful in the hand, perhaps because we perceive the humanity that the subtle distortion brings.

By the way, in Japan, the color of this sake cup is called "yomogi-iro. Yomogi is a plant that heralds spring and also means Japanese mugwort, and has been popular since ancient times as a plant to ward off evil spirits due to its strong fragrance.
Even today, we have the custom of eating Japanese mugwort rice cakes.

聖杯にも見える小さなカップです。
手捏ねの微妙な歪みとヨモギ色に茶褐色が混ざったようななんとも言えない色合いが良いです。柄なのか草のようなすっとした線がいくつも引かれています。
美しさと素朴さが相待っていて何とも魅力的なカップです。

小さな手で収まるサイズ感と、軽さのバランスが良く、長く持っていても決して疲れなくしっくりくる感じがします。

かなり余談ですが、古来ヨモギは春を告げる植物であると共に香りの高さから魔除けや神秘的に力を持つと考えられていたそう。荒地や道端でもすくすく育つ、力強い植物みたいです。
